Karan Johar Announces ‘Dhadak 2’ Trailer Release: Siddhant Chaturvedi and Triptii Dimri to Bright
Dhadak 2 Release Date: In a very thrilling announcement that has been creating buzz amongst the fans of Bollywood, Karan Johar has now announced that the extremely-awaited trailer of Dhadak 2 will be out this Friday, July 11, 2025. The spiritual continuation of the 2018 romantic drama Dhadak, the sequel has been promised to present an intense and emotional love story around the powerful on-screen couple Siddhant Chaturvedi and Triptii Dimri. Shazia Iqbal makes her directorial debut in Dhadak 2, which has been produced under the banners of Dharma Productions, Zee Studios, and Cloud 9 Pictures. Dhadak 2 will mesmerize the audiences with its raw and emotional plot. The film shall be in the theaters on August 1, 2025.
Karan Johar shared the exciting news on Instagram and with it, a love-filled new poster of Dhadak 2 with Siddhant and Triptii locked in passionate embrace, hinting at the emotional intensity of the lovers’ journey. The tagline of the poster, “When surrender means death… fight!” sets the storyline for one of covering societal hurdles and the survival of love. The post from Johar was, “Do dil. Ek dhadak. #Dhadak2 trailer out this Friday,” and it gave more fire to the anticipation for the trailer launch.
Dhadak 2 is the Hindi version of the critically acclaimed 2018 Tamil film Pariyerum Perumal, whose storyline was created around the ideas of social disparity and caste by utilizing the poignant love story format. The Hindi version features Siddhant Chaturvedi playing the character of Neelesh, the protagonist from the lower reaches of the family, and Triptii Dimri playing the character of Vidhi, who needs to position herself in the hierarchical societal structure. The film is expected to tackle the complexity of love transcending the barriers of class and caste in a socially relevant and emotionally effective manner.
Announcement of Dhadak 2
The announcement of Dhadak 2 has an interesting history behind it. News in April 2023 circulated about Dharma Productions producing the sequel with Siddhant and Triptii in the lead roles, but Karan Johar initially denied these news, stating no such film was produced under his banner. By May 2024, though, confirmation for the film came from Johar in the form of the release of the motion poster along with the announcement of the date of the film’s release first being November 22, 2024, and later shifted to August 1, 2025, as the clearance by the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) was delayed. The film for its part needed editing in dropping sensitive references to the caste for it to be cleared by the CBFC, being rated the U/A 16+.
Siddhant Chaturvedi, whose debut was in Gully Boy, couldn’t help but show how excited he was for the film in an NDTV interview where he mentioned, “We have made a very rooted and powerful film. Back home, I have been mostly offered urban characters, but my roots are from Ballia, UP, and this is the first time for me to feel this way. laughs So, very excited, wonderful script, beautiful co-actress, Triptii.” He slipped in the trailer providing us with the glimpse from the powerful story of the film, leaving everyone eager for more.
In the afterglow of the success of films such as Animal and Bulbbul, comes the sophisticated acting of Triptii Dimri to Dhadak 2. She stars alongside Siddhant for the first time on the screen, and the fans already love the couple’s chemistry from the love posters they have been releasing so far. All the same, the reactions have not beenentirely positive, with some of the netizens feeling sentimental for the lead ladies from the original Dhadak, i.e., Janhvi Kapoor and Ishaan Khatter, and others questioning the casting of Triptii. One of the fans commented, “Please don’t neglect Tripti the way the female lead was neglected in the second half of the original.”
