Review: Patriotism and truth triumph
Kesari Chapter 2 is a spiritual sequel to 2019’s Kesari, which was based on the Battle of Saragarhi. This time the story is set against the backdrop of the Jallianwala Bagh massacre of 1919, where thousands of unarmed Indians were brutally killed by the British army. The film is the story of lawyer C. Shankaran Nair (Akshay Kumar), who fought a long legal battle against the British Empire to bring the truth of this massacre to the world. The film is based on the book The Case That Shook the Empire by Raghu Palat and Pushpa Palat.
Akshay Kumar brings life to the character of Shankaran Nair. His performance is so strong that you cannot take your eyes off him in every courtroom scene. After a special screening in Delhi, lawyer and politician Charu Pragya tweeted, “Watched the screening of #KesariChapter2, I didn’t even blink for the first half! Unbelievable! @akshaykumar
